Sherm's Blog

Posted by: John M. Pugh on Tue, Jun 22, 2010

Take a picture. With this entry, I am now a "blogger." It's not that I deem my life any more interesting or important than anyone else's, just that Carrie and I thought this would be a good way to quickly become acquainted with the church family at Central. This may be your first time reading a blog, for that matter. You will notice it is a 2-way street - you get to read, and you get to reply too. Everyone gets to read it, which means everyone gets the benefit of your thoughts right along with everyone else's. So, this blog will probably look like an electronic refrigerator door, full of sticky notes, notices, and randomness. But have you noticed how we tend to leave things on the refrigerator door? Ours is "cluttered" with old team photos, Christmas photo cards, certificates of achievement from school, and magnets from places we have visited. That old refrigerator may have actually corroded and vanished under all that stuff and we just can't tell. But all that stuff serves to remind me that life is precious, relationships are priority, and we don't want to forget. Already, the relationships we are making and the welcome we are receiving from our new best friends in Rockford are things we never want forgotten. Thank you. Go ahead and put your sticky note on the door here. There's plenty of room.

just stuff
Sherm and Family, we are so sorry we missed all the events of the weekend you were here. At the point it was announced we looked at our calendar and just GROANED. It had to be one of the busiest weekends our family has had in a long time. The only thing we got to was church, and even then we were involved in several different areas, and weren't able to greet you or introduce ourselves (not that you would have remembered - you met sooo many people in just a few day's time). We loved what we heard from the pulpit, and even more what we heard from others who were able to attend multiple events over the weekend. We're looking forward to your arrival and getting to know you, and the direction and leadership you bring. Welcome!

Welcome

Sherm, I want to join the others in welcoming you to Central. I have seen God work miracles over the past few years and no doubt your selection as Senior Pastor is an answer to many a prayer. I know of the stressors and uncertainty that accompany a move like this and I also know how important it is to have support in every area of life during a transition. You can be confident that you will experience a family support system that will be there for these introductory times. I've been blessed to experience it myself.
